As many of you are aware, Kids 4 Truth uses sashes and patches for our awards system. Some of you may be wondering where that concept came from. Well, it's actually fairly simple, but there are a few key reasons for our use of sashes and patches for awards.
- We chose to use the name standard because of the Old Testament concept of holding up the standard to demonstrate where your loyalties lie and to whom you belong. We want boys and girls to be proud of the heritage of truth they are receiving, and to boldly proclaim that they belong to the King of Kings!
- We found that sashes and iron on patches were much easier to wear, handle, store, and use than other articals of clothing might be. Less work for parents and immediate rewards for a child's hard work are well worth it!
- Practically speaking, you may have a hard time getting a 6th grade boy to wear a sash, but helping him to understand the concept of a Biblical standard is a lot more appealing.
Those are just a few of the basic reasons for the development and use of the Kids 4 Truth Standards. But, what are your ideas? Have you found anything difficult about using the standards at your club? Do you use a different and possibly better alternative? What are your suggestions on using the standards and patches?
