A question that we have heard many times this summer is “What is the difference between the 2008 curriculum edition and the 2009 curriculum edition? Can I save money by purchasing the 2008 curriculum from the clearance section in the online store.” Let’s take a minute to talk about the differences in the curriculum and if it will work for you.

We like to tell people that the main difference between the 2008 and 2009 curriculum is that we “ironed out the wrinkles” between the levels.

• In the early edition of the curriculum 2008 and before, some of our wording for either the question or answer changed between the levels. While there was no real harm in this, it made sense to make the curriculum flow smoother from one level to the next.
• In a few cases we had multiple Bible verses for the same Q&A from one level to the next or felt another Bible verse supported the answer better than the one we originally used.

The editing staff’s paramount priority in this 2009 edition was to make our 120 core Q&A more understandable, more memorable, and more logical and uniform in the progression across levels. It is our hope that the increased continuity among levels will be a tremendous help to children as they advance in their knowledge and understanding of key doctrinal truths.

It is important to note that with the 2009 edition, there came a cap on the changes for five years (2014), so that churches can purchase a most-recently-edited edition of TruthBooks and know that they have in-hand the “latest and greatest” that Kids 4 Truth has to offer until at least 2014. Most importantly from a financial stewardship standpoint, we felt we needed to “freeze” the curriculum so that we can launch into the huge investment and opportunity to translate our materials for use amongst non-English-speaking people groups worldwide. We have already started to release some of the curriculum in Spanish and trust to release materials in other languages in the future.

“Can I save money by purchasing the 2008 curriculum?”

• Are you concerned about matching curriculum you may already have on hand?
  • Yes – is it 2008 or 2009 edition?
  • Not really – sure! Feel free to order the 2008 edition.
• If you add additional children to the program, will you want their curriculum to match what you purchase?
  • Yes – Then the safest thing is to order the 2009 edition as once the 2008 edition is gone it is gone – we will not print more of the 2008 edition.
  • No – Feel free to order the 2008 edition.
• Are you using the curriculum in a homeschool or family devotional situation where you are not concerned about the curriculum matching other levels?
  • Yes – Feel free to order the 2008 edition
  • No – Please see above points.

Kids 4 Truth garments are a great way to identify workers in your club. A variety of styles and colors are available so that you can either choose one color and style for your entire club or coordinate shirt colors with the level the worker is working with (Discoverers = Lime, Developers = Red, Detectives = Khaki or Gold, Defenders = Royal, Club Leadership = Black, White, or Yellow).

In addition to identifying your workers, some churches choose to use garments to add extra motivation for the children. They can either earn the garment by completing a given goal, use as year-end incentives, or have them available in a “Kids 4 Truth Store” where the children use “bucks or point cards” to purchase items.

Please remember, although we do stock more shirts than previous years, we request 2-4 week delivery on all apparel. If you need delivery faster than 2-4 weeks, please call our office to see what is available for immediate shipment.

What is Webinar Training?

A Webinar Training event is a online live seminar  that is available for you to watch and participate in free of charge. Kids 4 Truth knows that the economy is bad and many churches cannot afford the extras of paying to bring someone in to train their workers; however, they have a need to have their parents and workers informed and trained to use Kids 4 Truth so that the curriculum can be as effective as possible in their ministries. Kids 4 Truth has responded to this need by offering free online seminar events. We welcome anyone to attend these events by either watching online at home or online in a church setting using a PowerPoint projector. Our staff members present these seminars live online and participants are welcome to participate by watching, asking questions, and giving feedback during the session. We can answer your specific questions and schedule a custom training session that covers topics your ministry wants to hear.

The Kids 4 Truth Team is excited to announce that we are beginning to release some curriculum in Spanish!

Currently, the curriculum is available in downloadable format, but please let us know if you have an interest in the printed format.

Over the past week we have experienced intermittent phone issues where our phones will not allow us to pick up a call and it just rings without going to voicemail. Kids 4 Truth is pleased to offer a Web-based Seminars.   These web-based seminars are available free of charge to anyone who is interested in attending to gain more training and/or insight in the program. Whether you are currently using Kids 4 Truth, are scheduled to begin the program soon, or are just interested in finding out more about the program, we welcome you to attend the seminars.

Live Web-Based training is easy to use: simply log into the site using the links we provide to participate. Participants can ask questions, download manuals and resources, and give feedback to the presenter. Multiple participants can attend and watch from individual computers or you can connect your computer to a projector and watch as a group. Presenters can upload documents for you to view, allow you to see how resources are used, survey your needs, answer questions and much more!

Communicating with the presenter with questions or feedback and receiving files used in the presentation is easy to do:

Busy Season (June – October) is upon us and the Kids 4 Truth team is working diligently to field calls, chats, and fill orders.  With this in mind we have several office reminders:

Shipping

All orders are shipped the next business day, assuming we have the item in stock. If you need a rush order, please call our office.

BUSY SEASON EXCEPTION - ALL ORDERS: Please allow 2-3 weeks processing time for all orders during this time of year. If you need faster processing/shipping times, you should call or email our staff to see what we can do for you. Simply choosing next day, 2nd day, or 3 day select will not guarantee you receive your shipment faster or with those deadlines.

No Shipments: Kids 4 Truth Shipping Warehouse will be closed July 2-11. If you place an order during that time, the order will be shipped the week of July 12.

Lowering Shipment Costs: You can lower your shipping costs by shipping to a business address (church or job) and choosing the UPS ground option. This is normally a $1-3 saving per shipment.

Garments and Vinyl Banners: Remember these items have a standard 2-4 week turn around time. We do stock many of the economy polo shirts, however, we cannot guarantee they are in stock. Call or email us if you want to know what garments are in stock and can be shipped out quicker.

Online Store Changes

Some of you may have noticed a few things are different on the online store. Please rejoice with us as we have just rolled out a new version of the online store. This new version gives us some of the features churches have requested. Keep watching the Clubs Blog for a post of all of the new features on the “new store.”

Tax Exempt Letters

The new store allows us to mark if a church is tax exempt. This is especially helpful for states where we must charge tax if we have not received a tax exempt letter (currently Missouri and Tennessee). However, we have heard rumors that other states may require businesses to charge tax on web orders. Therefore, we are asking that all churches send us their tax exempt letters by fax (816-875-4811) or email (payments@kids4truth.com) and we will mark your account accordingly. This will allow us to be prepared as laws change.

Phone Calls and Chat line

During the months of June to October our customer service department fields many phone calls and chat line questions. We operate extended customer service hours so that we are more readily available to meet your needs.

• Phone Calls: If you get our voicemail, we are normally on another call and would ask that you leave a message. Voicemail messages are delivered to our email, and we will respond as quickly as possible.
• Online Chat: Please feel free to use the online chat feature. This feature works much along the lines of an instant message client. When the Chat Now tab is highlighted in green one or more of our customer service personnel is available to answer your questions. Simply type in your question and we will respond. This is especially helpful when you are looking for products on the online store or documents on the EquipU site as we can give you the link for the item.
• Conference Calls: We are happy to schedule a conference call with your ministry so that more than one person at your ministry can talk to us at the same time. This is often helpful when Pastors and Club/Program Directors are meeting and would like questions answered by our staff. We are available to schedule these calls outside of normal business hours if desired.
• Video Conference Calls: We are happy to schedule a video conference call with your ministry using Microsoft Live Meeting so that more than one person at your ministry can talk to us at the same time. This is often helpful when Pastors and Club/Program Directors are meeting and would like questions answered by our staff. The advantage of the video conference call is that we can show you items we are speaking about – files or items you would like to visualize. We are available to schedule these calls outside of normal business hours if desired.

Summer is a great time to take a step back and evaluate things you want to change in your church program or service. We would like to take a minute to remind you that the Kids 4 Truth Curriculum and Program is TOTALLY flexible.

As we wrote and designed the program we kept it flexible so that it could meet the individual needs of almost any church situation. We did not want churches to have to fit in a mold or have a “cookie cutter” type program. We realize that each ministry is unique and therefore each program should be unique to fit the needs of that ministry. Instructions:

• Download and print the placemats. 
  • The placemats are designed to print on 11" x 17" paper
  • If needed, you can reduce the document to fit to printer margins and print at 8.5" x 11". 
    • Smaller sizes can be pasted to a piece of construction paper to make a larger size if desired.
• Laminate the placemats so that they are waterproof. 
  • You can laminate by using a regular laminator or by taking the printed document to the UPS Store, Office Max, Office Depot, Kinkos, etc.
  • Use contact paper to laminate the placemats.  
• Distribute the Placemats
  • Be sure to give parents instructions on how to use the placemats, and encourage them to use the placemats to review curriculum at meal times.
  • Use the placemats in the classroom setting during snack time.
• NOTE: to save money on lamination, consider laminating two themes back to back.  Instead of having 12 placemats...you will have 6 to laminate and distribute.

To Access Discoverers Pages

Since the Discoverers TruthBooks are set up by Doctrinal theme instead of units within a Doctrinal theme, we have set up the WebNumbers pages the same way – by Doctrinal theme instead of Q&A or unit. Therefore, WebNumbers for the Discoverers level is four digits instead of six digits like the other levels. The first two numbers are the level number (01) with the second two numbers being the doctrinal theme (01-12). For example: the Discoverers WebNumber page for theme #1 God’s Word – The Bible is 0101, The Greatness of God is 0102, etc.

Each file includes seven pages of simple coloring sheets for the doctrinal theme.  The memory work on these pages reflects the Level 1: Discoverers curriculum.  Specific pages for the Key Truth, Q&A for Book A, Q&A for Book B, Q&A for Book C, Bible Verse for Book A, Bible Verse for Book B, and Bibles Verses for Book C.  Send home a different page each week! These files were revised in January 2010, the coloring sheets now reflect 2009 curriculum and & each page is labeled to reflect which Discoverers Book it matches.

Dear EquipU Users,

We trust this newsletter will be a blessing to you as it highlights the latest happenings with Kids 4 Truth’s curriculum and clubs program. Whether you are operating a club, a different type of children’s church program, using the curriculum as homeschool material, or simply curious to learn more about Kids 4 Truth –  we are glad to serve you!

Shipping Information

One of the most common requests we receive is that we ship all items in an order from the same location. (In the past, we have had our vendors ship products directly to you instead of maintaining a large warehouse.  As a result of this, it was not unusual to have multiple shipping charges within a given order – one per source warehouse.) We are happy to announce that we are working toward more centralized solutions. So far, we have combined 3 of our warehouses into 1 and are now down to 3 warehouses total instead of 5. We trust that this will make ordering supplies more convenient for our churches.

The goal of the Kids 4 Truth staff is to ship orders 24-48 business hours after the order is placed. Please remember: Banners take up to 2 weeks to be shipped, and shirts can take up to 4 weeks.

Tax Exempt Letters Needed
Over the past year Kids 4 Truth has moved more of its operations to Knoxville, TN, and many of our items are now shipped from there. Unfortunately, the time has come that we would have to begin charging TN sales tax in addition to the MO sales tax. If your church is located in TN or MO we need to have a copy of your tax exempt certificate on file in order to remove sales tax from your orders.  (Churches from other states are welcomed to send in tax exempt letters, but at this time it is not required in order for you to avoid sales tax.) You may send your tax exempt certificate to us one of three ways:

Once we have your tax exempt letter on file we will manually remove Sales Tax from your orders after they are placed and your new total will be reflected on your invoice and the online store.

February/March Sale
During the month of February the Kids 4 Truth music will be on sale for 10% off of regular prices. This includes our songbook and music CDs (http://kids4truth.com/store/Music-C73.aspx), but does not include the downloadable files (MP3, PDF, etc.).

During the month of March the Kids 4 Truth tracts and bookmarks will be on sale for 10% off of regular prices. This includes our Dynabox Tract, Passion Tract, and all bookmarks (http://kids4truth.com/store/Bookmarks-C70.aspx and http://kids4truth.com/store/Tracts-C7.aspx).

The Kids 4 Truth Staff has recently updated the following resources:

§ 6-digit number plus letter to reflect within the lesson plan its corresponding spot in the TruthBook (first two digits = level number; second two digits = doctrinal theme number; third two digits = unit/Q&A number)

§ Second 4 digit number in parenthesis lines the lesson up with the 120 Q&A within the other levels (first two digits = doctrinal theme number and second two digits = unit/q&a number)

Truth in Real Life Moments

We are thrilled to announce a new feature to the Kids 4 Truth devotional site. "Truth in Real Life Moments" are real-life audio stories written about real Christians who lived a life for Christ, and dramatically presented especially for Kids 4 Truth listeners.

Webinar Training Events

In addition to our regular Regional Training Events, we are now scheduling Webinars (training events via the internet). Regular training events will be scheduled twice a month with one session lasting approximately 2 hours, meant to cover a number of general training issues. The second event each month will be a specific topical session that lasts approximately 45 minutes. Please be sure to visit the online forums on EquipU (http://equipu.kids4truth.com) to RSVP for events and download training manuals.
