Promoting Your Club to Your Church Members

How does one promote his club if the club meets in rented facilities or does not have access to bulletin boards or wall space?  Some clubs are held in a church that also has a Christian school ministry and the bulletin boards are reserved for classroom use.  So, does one simply promote by word of mouth or is there a way to have visual presentations or bulletin boards?

We have heard these questions several times over the past few months and we have a solution:-) Try using portable cardboard or foam board presentation boards!

One can make several displays that can be displayed together, in several areas,  or rotated each week.  Here are several display ideas:

info-c Parent Info Board

Parents need info on what is going on in your club, what children are learning, meeting times & places, special events, and special needs (We NEED more workers, we are having a party and need "_________", etc.)  This presentation board was made with the idea of giving parents three pieces of information:
1.  How Kids 4 Truth can help them as parents (websites, dynamations, devotional site, EquipU site info, etc.)
2.  General Club Information (Parent Newsletters, How Awards are Earned, Help Needed, Special Event Next Week!, etc.)
3.  Information from the Kids 4 Truth Staff (Kids 4 Truth Christmas Card, Ways you can help Kids 4 Truth (GoodSearch and GoodShop fliers, Updates, E-Newsletters, Interesting Blog Posts, etc.)club-c

 Our Club Board

Simply a "bulletin board" with photos from our club.  This can include both current and past photos.  We also suggest making a photo album of photos from your club...let children and workers see themselves throughout their Kids 4 Truth years.  This helps parents who never come into the club meetings see what goes on in your club.  Let them see both the serious and fun times.

gear-c Store Board

Consider making giving Kids 4 Truth products as gifts easier for your parents by taking orders for our products.  These orders can be combined with your order and help both you and the parent save shipping and handling expenses.  This takes just a few steps but will help raise awareness and identity in your club.

Steps:

  1. Make a list of products you are willing to order for your parents (this can contain all or just part of the items we offer).
    1. Be sure to list quantity, color, size, and price on your order sheet
    2. Have a place for name, email, phone number
    3. Include a spot to mark when the parent has paid for the order.
  2. Determine how you will handle shipping/handling fees.
    1. Add set amount per order
    2. Add set amount per item
    3. Shipping/handling fees split evenly between those placing orders
    4. Shipping/handling fees covered by the church
  3. Give Order Deadline dates.  ("We will place orders on these dates:", "Next ordering date will be '____'."
  4. Determine if you want payment when order is placed or upon delivery.
  5. Make a presentation board using photos of the items you want to make available or use actual products on the board or on the table in front of the board.

As a note: remember that anyone can make a purchase from the online store anytime.  The reasons why one might make a display like this is if they want more of their children using K4T products, desire to off set shipping/handling costs, convenience for parents, gets parents on the Kids 4 Truth site so they can get excited about the program, and to promote the club to the church and community (When one wears the logo one is promoting the club wherever he/she goes.)

Notes about using Presentation Boards:

  • Items can be glued, taped, or stapled on presentation boards.  Glue items you want permanently on the board and staple those you want to update. (note: if you use staples as you would on a bulletin board the staples will stick out beyond the thickness of the cardboard presentation board, so you must be careful when you carry the board.  Normal foam board is thicker and will not have this issue.)
  • Use bright colors for your letters that "pop" when seen on the board. (hint: cut letters using a stencil cutter if one is available.  Most stencil cutters will cut paper or fabric.)
  • If you staple items on your board your board becomes re-usable or up-dateable. (consider gluing smaller items on a sheet of construction paper and then stapling the page on the board to save staples sticking out.)
  • Cut two of each letter and "shadow" one color behind the other to create a 3-D effect.
  • Stick with no more than 3 colors on your board including the board itself to keep the board from getting "too busy".

Will you please explain clearly the proper way that we can use the Kids 4 Truth text in our promotions and abide by copyright?

For example, in this month's newsletter we want to include some of the questions so that adults could know what the kids are learning.

Thanks!
