  • Kids 4 Truth Releases A New Dynamation

LifeofChrist2New Dynamation Released: The Life of Christ

Kids 4 Truth is pleased to announce the release of a new Dynamation called “The Life of Christ.” The Life of Christ dyna is a simple Gospel presentation that beautifully blends music, artwork, and Scripture.

Blaise Pascal said: “Our religion is wise and foolish. Wise, because it is the most learned and most founded on miracles, prophecies, etc. Foolish, because it is not all this which makes us belong to it…It is the cross that makes [us] believe.”

1 Corinthians 1:17  --  [Paul said:] For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

This Christmas season, it’s wonderful to remember Christ as the babe in the manger but it’s imperative to acknowledge Him as the God-man that suffered, died, and rose again. Remember the cross of Christ. Teach the cross of Christ. I encourage you to use this new dynamation as a Gospel-centered means of helping people remember the Reason for the season—the Reason for any season: Jesus Christ.

    Praise Report

We thank God for the increased traffic to our website. We trust that God is expanding our ministry and more lives are being reached with truth. Frankly, we have been shocked by the amazing increase in visits to our website over the past couple of months. Praise the Lord with us! We are especially thankful that many of these visitors to our website contact us, especially through e-mail.

I praise God for Dave Welshans, our volunteer “question-answerer.” Dave has answered literally thousands of questions about God, eternity, and other spiritual matters over the last few years. Thank you, Dave. May God bless you for your faithfulness. May He bless your efforts with fruit that remains.

    Closing Request

Would you please pray this passage of Scripture for all of us here at Kids 4 Truth?

Colossians 1:9-14  --  For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;  That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. . .

Thank You! May God richly bless you and yours this Christmas season.

  • Looking For Feedback On A New Children's Gospel Tract

LTaG coverOne of my hobbies is tract-collecting. When I was a kid, I began collecting Jack Chick tracts. Back then, I was attracted to the graphics and story-line. Over the last several years, my primary motivation in collecting tracts has been to evaluate theological content. After reading several hundred (maybe thousand) Gospel tracts, it is my humble opinion that a tract is good when it is clear, complete, and especially, God-centered. A good tract maximizes my sinfulness and need in light of God’s holy, awesome character. Consider Isaiah’s response when he got a glimpse of God—Isaiah immediately realized his sinfulness and need for God (Isaiah 6).

A good tract then MUST highlight GOD!

Frankly, I have been disappointed with most children’s Gospel tracts (and many “grown-up” tracts, too—but that’s another post). I have found children’s gospel tracts to be either too simple, too man-focused, or both. They don’t do a good job of just talking about God. What they often do is present heaven as a logical choice. [Warning: Hyperbole ahead] “Ok little Johnny, do you want to go to Rainbow World when you die and be with mommy and daddy or do you want to go to Bunsen Burner Land where the devil will bite you?” It’s a pretty clear choice, isn’t it? Logic alone tells me I better do whatever it takes to avoid the pain of BBL.

The problem: logic alone never got anyone into the Kingdom.

LTaG1What gets people into heaven is conversion: turning from sin and turning to Christ—all by the grace of God. Faith (turning to) and repentance (turning from) are both saving graces. A good Gospel tract should contain biblical truth that is pride-smashing and God-exalting.

For quite some time I have been desirous to publish a children’s Gospel tract that begins and ends with GOD. This is my humble attempt at doing so—the “Let’s Talk About God” children’s Gospel tract. (all graphics by Marie Tabler, or course)

I haven’t been able to actually get this tract published in print-form yet because the funds have simply not been there. I’m wondering if God wants to further refine the content of this tract before it goes to press. So, that’s one reason I’m blogging about it and releasing the “meat” of the tract for critical review. Please evaluate: What can be said more clearly? Was anything missed that should be in a tract like this? Will kids at a 2nd-3rd grade reading level understand the content? I greatly appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Download the PowerPoint Show of “Let’s Talk About God” (about 7MB)

You will need the free Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer if you don’t have PowerPoint or the Viewer already — find it HERE.

Please feel free to distribute this PowerPoint Show file or broadcast it in a group setting. Feel free to teach/preach through it. Please do not alter the content in any way.

NOTE: When the tract is fully opened, it reveals a special poster. I am not releasing the poster for viewing yet but I’ll describe it: inside is a timeline of Biblical events (about 11”x20”) that give a bird’s eye view of redemptive history. And it’s real pretty too!  The idea of the poster is that children’s workers might use it in a counseling situation as a great “at-a-glance” teaching tool.

  • Getting A Handle On The Scope And Sequence Of Kids 4 Truth

Scope and sequence ppt graphicCurriculum progression graphicHere is a short and helpful PowerPoint presentation that will help anyone evaluating the Kids 4 Truth Club understand the scope and sequence of the curriculum.

Also, for those of you using Kids 4 Truth, I recommend sending a link to this blog post to your fellow workers and parents of clubbers. Please let me also encourage you to use this presentation with a projector in order to explain how the children’s Truthbooks work. I trust that if you’re already using our materials you will find this a helpful tool for all who are involved in your local Kids 4 Truth Club.

You will need either PowerPoint or the PowerPoint Viewer to view this file. If you have neither, don’t fret! Microsoft has the FREE PowerPoint Viewer available on their website for immediate downloading. I recommend downloading the 2007 version.

Here’s the scope and sequence of the Kids 4 Truth Curriculum in a nutshell:

    • 4 Age Levels
    • 2 Truthbooks (curriculum workbooks) per Level
    • 6 Doctrinal Themes per Truthbook
    • 10 “Top” Questions and Answers per Doctrinal Theme
    • 120 Total Top Q&A is reviewed every two years. Answers gradually “get tougher” as a child’s mental capacity grows. We desire to systematically build upon the rich doctrinal knowledge that the children have learned in previous Levels.

  • Vision | November 2006 Update

Vision at K4TLast week we held a special Kids 4 Truth Promotional Luncheon here in the Kansas City area. The purpose of the luncheon was to inform, inspire, increase our financial and prayer support, and lovingly convince believers that we need to get back to focusing on God-centered doctrine in regards to educating children.

We had a great lunch at the Hereford House thanks to a donor that made it possible to do so.   Praise God! I’m thankful for all who attended. I’m also grateful for the steak, chicken, or salmon all the attendees received. The free meal was our way of saying “thank you” and it made me feel better about making them suffer through an hour of my blathering on and on.

Hopefully we’ll be able to do an event like this again next year. Leadership from several area churches attended in order to evaluate the Kids 4 Truth Clubs for potential use at their own churches. I was thrilled to be able to give these folks a “bird’s eye view” of the program. If you live in the Kansas City area and we forgot to invite you—please forgive us! Please let me know if you’d like to attend one of these events and we’ll make sure you receive an invite to our next one.

Steve Calton was there. He directs a Kids 4 Truth Club in the Kansas City area. His testimony was quite possibly the best part of the whole event! (Thanks, Steve!) He articulated that he had seen a change in the kids in the short time his church has been using Kids 4 Truth. In particular, he noticed that children aren’t attending just for the games and gym-time. He said kids are less excited about the games and more excited about the lesson time and working in their Truthbooks. Praise the Lord. I’m all for fun and games but I’d much rather see children that are excited about learning doctrine than playing dodge-ball!

    (although dodge-ball is a close second!  )

If you’d like to see the PowerPoint presentation I delievered at the luncheon please feel free to download it. It gives a big-picture perspective of the Kids 4 Truth Clubs and helps explain things like: what makes K4T unique?, what is the K4T learning method?, what is the impact of the www.kids4truth.com website, and what is the philosophy behind the content?

Kids 4 Truth is designed to help boys and girls fashion a biblically sound “puzzle box top” so that when they are handed a piece of the “puzzle” through Sunday School or other sermons—they will know where it fits. They’ll begin to understand how all of Bible truth weaves together as a beautiful tapestry and they will gain a God-centered framework in which to assimilate and evaluate all teachings. Perhaps even more importantly, when boys and girls are handed a puzzle piece that doesn’t fit anywhere, they’ll know to throw it out!)

*Slide 4: Honeymoon Destination. A few weeks ago I met a man flying on the “red-eye” out of Sacramento, CA. We began talking about our careers and other “life” stuff. I shared with him about my recent engagement. I also shared with him my new affinity for Northern California—a truly beautiful geographic locale! I suggested that I might bring my bride-to-be out to Cally for our honeymoon. I then took a nap for about 30 minutes. When I woke up he told me that if I was serious about coming out West for my honeymoon he had a second home in a gated community in the Napa Valley area that I could use free-of-charge. He said he’d be delighted to give us the use of this home as a “wedding present.” Wow. I thought maybe he was just being “nice” but a couple weeks later I received an email from him with the standing invitation and several pictures of his beautiful house on a lake (see balloon pic above). Praise the Lord with me (and Sarah). We’re going West for a couple weeks this April!

**Slide 27: Efforts in 2007. This year is primarily dedicated to one thing, practically speaking: honing and polishing all the “back-end” Clubs stuff (i.e. lesson plans, documents, user guide). In order to create a great “clubs” product we need to answer two questions: 1. What do you teach the kids? and 2. How do you teach them? By God’s grace, I feel like we’ve answered question #1 well. But we can do a better job of facilitating churches and families as they implement the clubs and basically help them answer the question “How do we do it?” Please pray for us in this regard and give us feedback. We’re listening to our churches. We are planning to give two surveys to all our club churches in order to help us further hone all our materials. See the “Vision” graphic above for a list of several projects we’re busy working on right now to make Kids 4 Truth better than ever.

  • Exciting Update - October 2006

Hits in october 2006Here’s a snapshot from our latest monthly web report:

    • Hits: 10,146,542
    • Visits: 665,963
    • Page Views: 1,634,601

(Now if we could only figure out how to get these vast numbers of people to each submit a devotional…hmmmmm.)

I praise the Lord that these numbers represent real people. Kids 4 Truth exists to inspire and equip God’s people to ground boys and girls in essential Christian truth.

I invite you to click HERE to download the complete October 2006 report (PDF).

One truly interesting statistic was our bandwidth numbers. Our bandwidth usage per month used to hover around the 40GB mark. Last month we used 204.80GB to meet the increased demands of the increased traffic! For any of you non-techies out there…uh, that’s, um, a lot.

One more thought about bandwidth and I’m done: It ain’t cheap. smile

EquipuIn addition to the website “pillar” of our ministry, the Kids 4 Truth Clubs continue to grow. Right now over 100 churches are actively using the club materials in an effort to inculcate the most important truths about God into the hearts and minds of their young. About 60 other ministries have registered to begin using the club program shortly. If you are looking for an answer to the question: “What are we doing to ground our boys and girls in essential Christian truth,” the Kids 4 Truth curriculum may be a part of your answer. It’s a humble attempt to help you fufill the mandates of Deuteronomy 6 and Psalm 78. If you haven’t checked out the “catechism on steroids” curriculum lately, I invite you to do so HERE. (I suggest you scroll down and download a PDF of our Defenders—recommended for 5th-6th graders—curriculum for free viewing. It’s not just a sample, either—it’s exactly and entirely what you’ll find in the children’s Truthbooks. Just don’t try and print it or you’ll be using your printer as a toaster. smile)

For those of you already using the Kids 4 Truth materials, I’m excited to inform you that there are many projects underway right now to help enhance the Kids 4 Truth Clubs. Recently, we released a completely re-designed “EquipU” website. This website is designed to be a valuable tool for folks that use the Kids 4 Truth Clubs. The most beautiful part about EquipU? It’s free. For anyone.

So, I invite all of you, even those using Patch, Awana, TruthTrackers, Frontline, Discovery Clubs, Buckaroo Bible Clubs, Calvinist Cadet Corps, Arminian Assault Admirals, and even “homemade” curricula to register and avail yourself of the free materials (lesson plans, coloring sheets, club ideas, etc.) you’ll find at EquipU.

  • Building Update

K4t buildingFor those of you keeping tabs on how we’re progressing with the front of our office building, here’s the latest update! I should be able to post pics on Monday of the finished product.

Please pray that we would all be a good testimony to the workers. Please pray as we price some special K4T-specific signage for above the door.

Click HERE for some pictures taken last night of the progress thus far…
