Kids 4 Truth made the local, front-page news here in Lee’s Summit this past Wednesday. Rachel Barnes of the Lee’s Summit Tribune stopped by to interview me a few weeks ago. We gave her a bunch of free stuff in hopes that she would write mostly good stuff about us. It seemed to work! Thanks so much for the great write-up, Rachel.

Danny Clapp, who directs a local Kids 4 Truth Club, just happend to drop by the office as Rachel was here. The timing was perfect, and Danny said such nice things to Rachel about our Club program one would’ve thought I’d paid him to do so! Honestly, I didn’t. It was providential and one of Danny’s quotes even made the article. Way to go, Danny. You get a 50% discount on your next order of official Kids 4 Truth Cotton Candy Flannelgraph Characters.

I’m truly grateful for the good press. I hope we meet many in our commuity as a result of the article. I’m sure that some folks will be offended by the exclusivity of our message, but I want to meet and greet and befriend folks so that they will at least know what our message is! In other words, if they are offended by us, I want them to be offended by our Gospel message—not because we’ve isolated ourselves from them. “Who are the people in that little building?” “Don’t know. I think they’re some kind of cult. I’ve seen ‘um come and go, but I’ve never met ‘um. One time the big guy parked his car in the no parking area and got my wife mad.” May it never be.

We like people. We’re humans too.

There’s one thing in the article that Rachel didn’t get quite right (which was probably my fault). The article says that I said: “…We feel that churches are a museum of saints and hospital for sinners where the treatment is truth.” What I meant to say is: “I believe that churches should not be museums to show off the saints. Churches should be hospitals for hurting sinners where the treatment is the truth.”

[NOTE: For those of you that have never met me in person, the picture at left might help you understand my mutant height. Marrena and Julie (the office ladies on either side of me, respectively) are of normal stature. I am not.]
