This blog post is especially for those kind souls that attended one or both of my recent workshops at Northland’s Heart Conference. In a place where I am used to being the student, I had the opportunity to attempt to be the teacher. It was humbling. Thank you to all who attended. You have found the place that contains the materials I promised to post.
And for those of you that have no clue about the workshops, please don’t be vexed, this post may still be of value to you! (Congratulations). Please press on.
Workshop #1: Catechism is Not a Bad Word
DOWNLOAD the PowerPoint file "Catechism is Not a Bad Word" (about 2MB)
About the PowerPoint file — This PowerPoint presentation provides the philosophical pillars that hold up the Kids 4 Truth Clubs. It makes a biblical, historical, and practical case that bible believing churches should return to the practice of catechism. Included are many pertinent anecdotes, powerful quotations, and thought-provoking arguments for the use of catechism. Please feel free to use this file to convince especially your church to use catechical instruction with the little ones. Please do not alter the content of the presentation.
For additional research on the topic of catechism, I recommend . . .
Workshop #2: Doctrinal Preaching to Children

DOWNLOAD the PDF file “The Ten Commandments” (about 100KB)
About the Workshop — In this workshop I attempted to biblically articulate what the primary focus of all our teaching and preaching should be — GOD. After spending the first 30 minutes affirming this truth from Deuteronomy 6, Psalm 78, and 2 Timothy 3, I gave a practical illustration of how we can “get back to God” with truth as practical as the 10 Commandments. The 10 Commandments exhibit the holy, beautiful character of God. All of God’s Word should lead us back to God Himself. If we miss God, we’ve missed Everything.
As a class, we learned the 10 Commandments memorably through the use of our ten fingers. (Ten Commandments + Ten Fingers = No Coincidence!) The PDF file is a poster designed to help you remember the ten hand signals and communicate them to the next generation.
